Experienced Family Practitioner Achieves Board Re-Certification

West Grove, PA – Robert P. Denitzio, M.D., the principal physician of Family Medicine Specialists of Jennersville, recently has been re-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.  Board certification confers a standard of excellence in knowledge and practice to physicians who not only certify via the examination process, but who also work diligently on the maintenance of these skills during the seven-year cycle between examinations.  Dr. Denitzio was first board certified in 1984, successfully maintaining the distinction ever since.  On his most recent certification exam, Dr. Denitzio scored in the 100% percentile.

The written examination tests cognitive knowledge and problem-solving abilities in areas such as adult medicine, care of newborns, infant, children and adolescents; maternity and gynecological care; community medicine, care of the older patient; human behavior and mental health and care of the surgical patient.  As part of the re-certification process, Dr. Denitzio also completed 300 hours of acceptable continuing medical education.

With more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Denitzio’s practice focuses on providing a level of care more characteristic of the classic family physician while employing today’s strategies on disease prevention, wellness and complementary medicine.  Dr. Denitzio provides comprehensive services to families, older adults and children starting at age three.  He has a particular interest in women’s health having provided complete obstetrical care and pre-pregnancy evaluations while practicing in Maryland for more than fifteen years.  He is a strong advocate of proper nutrition and exercise as keys to long-term health.   Dr. Denitzio is experienced at managing chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Dr. Denitzio received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University, in Lewisburg, PA., graduating Magna Cum Laude.  He obtained his medical degree from Georgetown Medical School in Washington, D.C.   As part of his training, he spent time overseas providing medical aid to refugees in Thailand along the Laotian and Cambodian borders with Catholic Relief Services.  He completed a three-year Family Residency Program at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV, associated with the University of West Virginia, where he served as Chief Resident.

His office is located in the Medical Office Building on the campus of Jennersville Regional Hospital, 1011 West Baltimore Pike, Suite 102, in West Grove, PA.  Appointments can be made by calling 610-869-8919 or online at www.fmsjennersville.com.

The American Board of Family Medicine, one of 24 Member Boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties, is the second largest medical specialty board in the United States.  Founded in 1969, it is a voluntary, not-for-profit, private organization.  Its purposes include improving the quality of medical care available to the public, establishing and maintaining standards of excellence in the specialty of Family Medicine; improving the standards of medical education for training in Family Medicine and determining by evaluation the fitness of specialists in Family Medicine who apply for and hold certificates.
