Women’s Center OB/GYN Adds New Physician
West Grove, PA – Richard F. Waters, D.O., has recently joined the experienced team at The Women’s Center OB/GYN, the practice of George Henry, M.D., PhD., and Nurse Mid-Wives Karen Pesta, Melissa Allred and Delores Powell.
Dr. Waters, a graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, earned his medical degree after serving 14 years on the Philadelphia Police Force. He completed an internship with Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) serving at Roxborough Community Hospital and Chestnut Hill Hospital. Immediately following, Dr. Waters completed an OB/GYN residency program also with PCOM with rotations at the Torresdale Division of Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia, Virtual Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly, NJ and Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, NJ.
Having received several commendations while a part of the Philadelphia Police Force, Dr. Waters left his position as a Police Detective to pursue his life-long dream of becoming a doctor.
In sharp contrast with much of his work on the police force, Dr. Waters fell in love with the life affirming aspects of obstetrics while in medical school.
“Labor and Delivery is usually the happiest place in any hospital,” notes Dr. Waters. “And, despite the number of deliveries I’ve been involved with, I’m still awed by the miracle of birth. I personally get a great deal of satisfaction when helping to bring a precious new life into the world.”
Dr. Waters also is passionate about women getting routine medical care such as annual pap smears and pelvic exams, yearly mammograms and breast exams. “No woman should miss a pap or let a lump, abnormal bleeding or pelvic pain go uninvestigated because the potential for serious problems is greatly reduced with early diagnosis and intervention.”
Dr. Waters is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Osteopathic Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
The Women’s Center OB/GYN has offices on the campus of Jennersville Regional Hospital, 1011 West Baltimore Pike, Suite 208, in West Grove and Brandywine Hospital, 213 Reeceville Road, Suite 20, in Coastesville.
